Building a Quality of Life
An old one and a half story shed/garage was converted into a warm and inviting living space as designed by the client’s architect. A new frost protected slab foundation with radiant heating was installed on phase 1. In phase 2 a drop header and posts were eliminated and a flush steel beam was installed to open up the first floor. A new stairwell was installed with a compact full bathroom tucked underneath. New energy efficient windows and doors were installed. In the roof a structural ridge and large shed dormer were fitted to gain additional useable space on the second floor. Built-in bookcases and a window seat add storage and display spaces. Wide plank yellow pine flooring and new paint provide warmth for the interior. Outside the old lap siding was repaired and replaced as needed, sliding barn doors were reinstalled, and new roofing was installed. The exterior was painted a bold red. It really makes a statement.
